A Father Like No Other
My dearest Father, thank you that I can come to you just as I am. Nothing to tidy up. No pretense. No cover-up. You embrace me no matter the state of my heart. Thank you.
You always love my company. You’re continually elated to spend time with me. With you Lord, time together never grows old.
Just this morning, as you ushered in the sunrise and watched me awake to a new day, you welcomed me with a song.
For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17
A Friend Like No Other
Father, my heart is heavy today. May your comfort and presence keep me at rest. May your warmth soothe my soul. Jesus, please attend to the most profound need of my heart today.
For you Lord, know me inside and out, head to toe. You know the language of my soul. And therefore, only you know how to calm the storm within me. Silence the whirlwind of discouraging thoughts blowing through my mind. Infuse my thoughts instead with your magnificent unconditional love. Turn my thoughts to hope, for you are with me. Always with me.
Jesus, you, too, were well acquainted with sorrow. A man of sorrows who understands the heaviness of my heart today.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” Psalm 34:18
A Comfort Like No Other
Abba Father, there is no end to your goodness. There is no boundary to your power, and nothing can stop the pursuit of your loving-kindness.
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! Like the sand on the shores. Like the stars in the skies. Too many to count.
Amazing Grace, this is who you are, sweet Jesus. Reveal your love for me in ways I won’t miss or ignore. Reveal your love for me in ways that thrill my heart. Recalibrate my mind with your unending love. Cause me to know, to believe, and to live loved. For with you, loved I will always be.
Jesus, fix my eyes on you alone. Comfort me as I look to you. For you will calm all my fears and hold sacred my every tear. You will keep me and sustain me with your love. Always and forever. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
